Now I lay me down to sleep
then onto the bed I'll faithfully creep
A thoughtful sentry at your feet
guarding your dreams, ensuring they're sweet!
Now all I want is what is fair,
but I'm down here and you're way up there!
Since I can't let my protection slip
I'd better move up by your hip.
there, that's better. But are you calling me?
That might be snoring; I'd better go see.
Ah, here we are . . . a vacant place.
My head can fit right by your face!
I admit this may sound pretty nice,
actually it's a sacrifice.
There's my wake-up call with the morning sun
but that's ok
don't thank me,
A dog's work is never done!
